Registering an Android device

Registering an Android device

  1. Determine who owns the device and whether system-level control is needed: COBO/COPE, BYOD work profile or only a mobile app.
  2. Choose the channel: the Aitera DPC or Android Enterprise. Do not mix the APK and the Google enrollment token.
  3. Open “Devices → Add device”, select the appropriate mode, user and connection lifetime.
  4. For COBO/COPE, follow the wizard’s QR instructions on a new or reset device; for Android Enterprise, follow the Google integration and registration scenario.
  5. For BYOD through the mobile app, install the app and give it the addresses from the QR. This QR does not make the device a Device Owner and does not create a work profile.
  6. When finished, check the mode, channel, last contact time and client events in the device card. Assign a profile or an app only after this check.

In AMAPI, the device receives Android Device Policy during provisioning; the Google token links the device to the organization and the selected policy. Google’s registration requirements are described in the provisioning guide. The availability of Google Play services and the device requirements depend on the selected registration method.
